Proper riding position [neck-ache question]

Hi all,
I am 6' 2" and ride a Rockhopper Pro Disc with a 19" frame. Just recently i have been getting an ache in my lower neck area. I happened to be at Evans at Gatwick today and mentioned it to the guys. They suggested it may be my positioning on the bike; I looked a little hunched.
I have adjusted my seat higher and my positioning improved [their judgment] but can't do much more about the reach, except perhaps move the seat back a little to lengthen the ride a bit more.
What I wondered is if there is a "proper" position I should be in, I can't raise the bars without changing the forks so wondered what your take on it is. This is only something I have noticed recently [I have had the bike 4 months] but can't put my finger on why it has started - other than having moved my seat a cm or two forward; but would that have caused such an effect?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions

There may be wrong rding positions, but there isn't a right one as we all vary in what we like.
Try a higher rise bar and/or stem.0 -
i think its probably due to being locked in the same position for long periods for too long rather than a problem with your actual riding position. are you riding further than before or stopping less?
so when you ride be aware of it, i.e. every so often sit up and move your neck around a bit to loosen it up and get some blood flow through the muscles. even if this doesnt solve it, im sure it will help a bitDont look at it-ride it! they are tools not f*cking ornaments
