My chainguide is setup as per instructions but rubs a little in 1st gear, is this normal, I guess it will wear away a bit and be ok?

All other gears are fine.

Hello, I thought that but the top mounting is spaced correctly, so if I move the back plate back it would probably end up rubbing on there
  • Whats your set up, I had problems with my new SAINT and e13 DRS on the bottom guide, new saint is a bit of a bitch with e13 oddly enough??

    Its all standard cranks/bb - Giant Brass 1 2009

I have the e thirteen g ring and a shinamo chain.

It only rubs a little in first, it is still bad?
  • 'Slight' rubbing is not an issue, if it's dragging a fair bit, it's a bit more of a problem, will wear the mech and chain..... sounds like a bit of weaking on your mech may be in order?

Yeah its just slightly rubbing on the top of the chain guide, you can replace them for £15 it seems as well, so they are serviceable parts.

What does the rear mech have to do with this, the issue is the chain direction when in 1st gear its at a strong angle to the rear cassette.

Its rubbing on the plastic bit top left of the guide, but only enough to make a noise not churning or feeling of resistance.
  • It will be fine, may wear a little bit off naturally, but that won't hurt, sounds it just needs to bed in a little ;)
