What pedals for commuting on a road bike?

Hi all - I have a couple of road bikes and use my cheaper one for commuting. I have SPD SL pedals on both bikes but am finding they are ideal for longer rides or rides that don't involved clipping in and out. When commuting on my road bike I find it really hard to get back in my SPD SL's especially when weaving in and out of the traffic and I come to a halt in between 2 cars or worse 2 lorries! I travel up a very busy and congested main road for part of the journey so stop and start a lot. Some advice on what pedals (preferably clipless) to buy would be greatly appreciated and also save me from getting squashed as well as the embarassment of trying to get re-attached!

shimano A530's with SH 56 cleats, SPD one side, flat the other, cleats are multi directional release, approximately 2 quid more and ten times better than A520's and SH 51 cleats.
tick all the boxes0 -
I ordered a pair of A530s from Parkers last night (it worked out to about 34.14 delivered).
They've received great reviews on both Chain Reaction and Wiggle.0 -
Shimano m520s.
Cheap and effective. Not climber, not sprinter, not rouleur0
