Trek v Fuji

Hi guys,
I'm hoping you can help out a newbie with a Cycle To Work voucher burning a hole in his pocket!
So I have up to £1000 to spend, either on a bike, or on a bike plus kit. I have to spend it at Evans.
Having visited a store last week I'm going back this week to try a Trek 1.5 at about £750 and a Fuji Roubaix RC at £950. The Fuji is better spec'd and the guy in the shop said I would notice the difference between the two. But I still have some doubts as to whether I will benefit from the Fuji's specification, or if I should get the Trek and treat myself to some new kit as well.
I'll be using the bike for a 20 mile round trip commute (with hills!) as well as some weekend cycling; nothing too serious.
I'd really apprecaite any thoughts or comments
Thanks in advance
