Brake pads

Hi
im mainly a XC rider but have a road bike which i often use (especially in the winter) its nothing special as my money is spent on the MTB !! it has tektro R730 brakes.
I Guess i am used to the reassuring power of hydraulic disc brakes, and sometimes the power of the R730's is quite worrying !! they are set up fine, so i am wondering if better brake pads would increase performance ?? at present they have the stock pads which came with the bike,
Can anyone suggest better performing pads to use ??

try and keep your rims clean too. Hard in winter I know.
Roadie brakes will never be in the same league as discs - until roadies run discs, which is some way off unfortunately.....Facts are meaningless, you can use facts to prove anything that's remotely true! - Homer0
