I purchased a STS chain guide from LBS and went to fit, I have found out my chain ring is currently threaded and I need a unthreaded one (which has wider holes) to fit it.

Ive ordered a e thirteen chain ring now, is it rather odd for OEM chain rings to be threaded?

The bikes a Giant Brass 1

    Its a giant brass 2009 mate;

    CRANKS SR Duro-S 32T with PC bashguard
    BOTTOM BRACKET Shimano BB-ES25 Octalink

    The crank spider looks fine, its just the chain ring, standard setup the allan bolts screw INTO the chain rnig, the e thirteen setup requires you too push through threaded tubes which have a raised edge to lock them in, then u bolt into them to clamp the spider, chain ring and bash guard together.

    Could be a just a cost saving thing. Do the cranks look like normal cranks without the chainring attached ?
