F 14's flying low

Holidayed in Tuscon some years back and that's where they were based and they often flw over the city on final approach. Ugly plane but designed for that ground-attack role so form followed function. Always wanted to see that gun fire (but not from the receiving end!)M.Rushton0

Better if they were Sukhoi SU30 Flankers - one of the most impressive aircraft display I've seen - plenty of youtube clips - standing on it's fin and flipping backwards - one of the few I'll stop and look at having been in the industry a few years and my office overlooks the Farnborough Airshow. I've seen the Typhoon display countless times too - watching them give it full afterburners on take off and set off all the car alarms in the car park!Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

living out here is ok for aircraft spotters...
We regularly get lots of stuff messing about in the bay - anything from Hawks, through to Harriers, Tornados, Typhoons and even a couple of F-15s playing tag a couple of weeks ago - like watching a flying display, it was. I've seen a lot of display aircraft over the years - Russian, US, UK, European - but nothing has ever come close to the display put on by the Lightning F6 I saw at Greenham as a kid.....
Still waiting to see a TR-3B out there, but I haven't been lucky enough yet.....0 -

Maybe one of the Royal Navy boys was given a F22 Raptor to have a test run it before Britain goes and blows upteen gazillion on its sister jircraft the joint strike fighter for our much needed aircraft carriers to defend our massive empire .0

I know that's only speculation, but what would be the point of buying the JSF and then test-flying a completely different aircraft..??0 -

Splottboy wrote:Two F14's just flew over and parallel to our local cycle track! Feel sorry for any riders as they were only bout 150ft up. Noise was deafening.
Recall two occasions when camping, in South and North Wales where pilots have saw our orange tents, and made a "B" line for them. F 111 in the South, Tornado North.
The Best of the Best!
I'd be very surprised if they were as low as 150 feet. Even an aeroplane at 1000 feet can seem very low. We used to release at 1000 feet AGL when being winch launched in a glider and they don't seem high from the ground.
Now these are low. This is from a model aeroplane forum I haunt rather more frequently than here:

I saw a UFO once. I wasn't on my bike though, but I had been smoking my Mum's herbs. Honest! :shock:0

HI guys,
I'm afraid they would deff be F15s from Lakenheath. Thats the only thing with twin fins flying around in this country at the mo.
Right time to take my enthusiast hat off now 8)
Cheers Mike0 -
reddragon, I saw it again tonight, and I'm pretty sure it's the other one that you mentioned, not the Airbus. Anyhoo....0

The Beluga? That's an Airbus

Yeah I'm pretty sure it's that one, and not the A380, although as you say they do make the wings in Broughton. Do they fly them to Toulouse in the Beluga or what???0

So if wasnt this, and wasnt that. A UFO then. Are trying to say u woz buzzed by extra-terrestials?!0

I just spent 5 days at Thetford Center Parcs, F-15's (Ithink) buzzing the place all the time...
The loudest I ever heard was a Harrier doing it's display at Brands Hatch, so loud, it literally stopped you dead in your tracks!Start with a budget, finish with a mortgage!0 -
sorry to burst your bubbles folks, it might well have been to do with the Southport Airshow!

We occasionally get full armed Tornadoes taking off from Leuchars and flying down the Tay.
Apparently in response to the Russians playing games.
A few days after the Airshow about 0530 something went down the Tay very fast, by the time I got to my window I could see the afterburners were on and it was out about Arbroath but not all that high.
Any idea what it may have been

Hey Geoff SS: from my front window I can see a mountain - hill? It's at 1,200 ft. These planes were AT LEAST less than 1/2 this height, maybe much lower, I kid you not.
The cycles track is only about 200mts away, as the F15 flies!!!
They weren't screaming fast, but fast enuff. Okay, maybe not 150ft, but not far off.
Some came over a few years ago, screaming fast. but not so low.
The missus was on nights, and ran downstairs thinking I was doing Turbo training in the lounge! ( Yes, my old Turbo was THAT loud..) New one is even louder, so I'm banned to the back room now.0 -
A B-17 flew over my house on Saturday, and I'm pretty sure they're not in service (not even in Iran)0
