What's the best thing to cure a hangover?

I went to a flat party last night and I drank 6 cans of strongbow cider, yes, I am a lightweight but I'd hate to be able to drink more, but I got to the point that I was crosseyed and could not see straight, I woke up in bed, dizzy, any movement made my stomach feel awfull, closing my eyes did crap all, so for about 8 hours I was in hell, having to crawl to the sink to get water, standing up resulted in my throwing up, so I threw up about 10 times, in a co-op bag, I'm still not recovered, it was a severe struggle to get to my chair. I've had 2 slices of bread and a cup of tea.

The only benefit to this I can see is that before I went to this flat party I did 92 miles with like over 8000ft of climbing and I was wrecked after that trying to keep up with bhima, I insist I was having a bad day yesterday, but my legs seem fully recovered which does not usually happen.

So anything good for a hangover cure?

Hair of the dog? Sounds very weird, might research that.

Steady rider, I kept drinking water, but it came back up in the form of an unusual yellow liquid with froth on top. Sure gave my abs a workout tho.
  • Irn Bru & a fry up usually does the trick.

Will, either you are pure comedy gold or very naive.

    Or both.

It's a old saying, derived from the fact that it was claimed that the best cure for a dog bite was a hair from the dog that bit you. In this instance, recovering from too much booze means that the best [1] method is, erm, more booze.

[1] Allegedly, but not implying personally that it's the best. A decent breakfast, plenty of liquids and a gentle spin out on the bike seem to do the trick for me, not that I get hangovers often anyroad.

  • Just means to have another alcoholic drink, the earlier the better! Sounds counter intuitive but it has truly magical effects!! Sets you up for another night of drinking!!

    TIME!
  • sports drinks, you want the sugar and electrolytes.
  • or a 20mile bike ride... seriously good hangover cure
  • Man up and either get on your bike to sweat it out/throw it all up or just mope about until it goes which wont be until you've had a decent enough amount of sleep.

P.s 6 cans of strongbow shouldn't leave you feeling that bad :? You sure you weren't spiked?
I'm 10 stone and 6 cans orf 'bow will get me nicely merry but no real hangover to speak of, especialy if i neck a load of water before bed
  • P.s nice 'dale, usually at work and piccies are blocked 8)

Is quite a lot after a 92 mile ride! Would probably get me drunk in those circumstances!
  • Oh yeh, didn't think of that, did you eat much after, if not then i'm surprised your still breathing...........

Before the bike ride I had 2 slices of toast, then on the ride I had a mars bar and 3 serial bars. I had a pan of rice with tika sauce when I got back to the flat. I drank about 4 750ml bottles of water on the ride though, that must explain despite the amount of throwing up I have had no signs of dehydration, urine was not dark and I had no headache.

It's the worst I have ever felt after drinking though, I'm going to be very wary when I'm around strongbow, just the thought of the stuff atm makes me cringe and I'll never be getting drunk again.

    Weapons grade skills.

Mind you Will, get back on the cider and tame it. You will only cope better and have a better time if you drink a bit more, just like cycling.

The thing is, cycling is good for you!, drinking is not.

Should I have my main hobby as drinking? I drank 57litres today, about 1litre per minute average, my total ascent was mind boggling, the decent was hellraising.

Both done in excess are bad, both done in moderation are not!

    You did what???

On the drinking thing....As I've got older my hangovers have got worse to the point where more than 5 pints has me in a right state the next day.... Problem is I dont get drunk at the time...the hangovers are just way out of proportion...and the only thing that cures it is sleep...

Back when I was at uni i could drink as much as I liked and still feel fine the next day...I think youre body just builds up a tolerance like it does to most things....so maybe the best advice would be do some drinking practice :D

Hair of the dog works too but not advisable when at work...bosses dont like that kind of thing :D

If you do stumble upon a magic cure be sure to let us know....
  • Best cure ever is 2 paracetamol and a pint of water just before you go to bed. Then when you get up 2 more paracetamol another pint of water and then a big bacon muffin with brown sauce and pickled onions and a pint of fresh OJ.
Bianchi. There are no alternatives only compromises!
