Hi folks
I have been given a 1984 RJ Quinn road bike by my mate with Shimano 600 rear mech and Campag Modolo brakes.
I am in a bit of a quandry as I will strip it down and get it resprayed, but not sure whether to get the frame rejigged to allow modern wheels and gearing to be used or refurb the currrent components and refit them on the resprayed frame.
I would probably use this bike as a winter bike, bit if after the respray it looks the business I may use it as a better bike.
Whats the thoughts chaps?

If the bike is about a 126 mm spacing on the rear drop out it should be able to be spragged out to 130mm.Your local bike shop should be able to do this .Wheel size ?700c ?..I use a 6 spped block for winter use .Cheap to maintain.bagpuss0

Get new kit on it. Old bikes look awesome with modern kit rather than just the old retro refurb thing that most peeps done.

I completely disagree...old frames with modern parts look awful.0 -
Im cleaning up all the components and putting them back on for the mo. Think a new paint job will do a world of good.
Probably get it painted after the winter.
The shimano 600 front and rear mech are in good condition, as is the campag chainset, and Modolo brakes. Will re-cable them and take it for a spin.
Mavic M40 wheels are true and in good condition.
Pretty light bike for steel0
