These wheels are 8-9 and 10 speed compatible, will they work straight off my 10 speed bike if i change the cassette to 9 speed for my winter bike or will i need a spacer? Cheers all

it's usually the 10spd cassette* which needs a spacer. The 9 should go straight on.
*Shimano. My SRAM 10spd cassettes didn't need one.Facts are meaningless, you can use facts to prove anything that's remotely true! - Homer0 -
Beautiful, cheers all, winter beast should be back on the road pretty soon then 8)
Anyhoo i'm off to try and wrestle the cassette off without the correct tool
I reckon a l;ength of old chain and some force should do it 8)winter beast: http://i497.photobucket.com/albums/rr34 ... uff016.jpg

.......Ok, just to clarify it's a regular sided thread isn't it? goty a Shimano freewheel jobbie that fits the splines but it's a right bugger, does it just require a lot of force?winter beast: http://i497.photobucket.com/albums/rr34 ... uff016.jpg

if you crossover the chain whip handle and the big adjustable spanner handle you can simply squeeze them together with just one hand, to undo the lockring.
That way you don't have to hold onto the spokes, like he does in the youtube vid, and your other hand is free to hold the wheel or just hold the socket in place.Facts are meaningless, you can use facts to prove anything that's remotely true! - Homer0 -
Don't have a chain whip
Got an old length of chain but it's on there well tight. Anyone got any ideas?
Many thanks in advancewinter beast: http://i497.photobucket.com/albums/rr34 ... uff016.jpg

The lockrings are normally done up pretty damn tight (40Nm or so). A proper chainwhip and a big adjustable spanner will make things much easierAlex0

Done it with mole grips an old piece of chain and a big adjustable spanner 8)
But for some reason i can no only shift between the 2 smaller rings on the front :x
Reaer now almost adjusted perfectly, certainly functioning, but can't understand why the front derailleur is not moving enough :? :xwinter beast: http://i497.photobucket.com/albums/rr34 ... uff016.jpg
