    Hopefully the team keeps a no-nonsense attitude and picks the rider best able to do the job. Because Cav has no chance of winning and he'll need to be carrying waterbottles and pulling breaks, something more normally suited to Stannard. Cav can't use the race as fine tuning for Paris-Tours.

    I'd have even a half fit Cav in to do a job, Stannard hasn't show anything like the ability of Cav to live with the pace and is the worse climber of the two.

    It seems a little mean to not select Cav when his success this year is such a large reason they have 9 places to fill in the first place, especially as Wiggins, the other big contributer, isn't racing either.
    It's not his course though, he'd have to play the domestique. Stick him in a break and see who wants to drag him to the finish line though....
