Ribble Carbon Sportive - Which Seatpost?

Since getting this bike in the summer (size XL) I have had any number of seatpost issues. The majority of these are down to fitting a shim to make a 27.2 post fit a 31.6mm bike. I have tried two different shims (of the apparently correct size) and two different posts (ideally I would have liked to use my favourite Specialized seatpost with the zertz, hence the whole shim idea) and a ton of carbon paste but no success. Post slips, saddle turns, post wobbles about the vertical axis. I have tried an old alu post that is 31.6mm but this slipped too. I admit there was no carbon paste applied with this one though, so may have been a factor.
I am resigned to needing to buy a new post. I really want it to fit this time. So....what are other RCS owners using? and has anyone else had problems with ill fitting posts?
Cheers, Col.
PS yes the clamp was done up to the correct torque before anyone asks.

Was the seat post that came with the bike no good? Mine has been fine, never slipped, or turned once.

Same here. I use the stock Ritchey alu post with no paste and as long as it's tight enough it never moves. I am a light rider so that would make some difference.

Hi Guys,
I ordered it as a frame and fork only, then had it built up at my local bike shop. I see Ribble have a stock carbon post with an alu clamp. I think this is the one shown in the pictures (same as the Tifosi one I have on another bike but without the label) in CW and C+. Just wondered if this was what most are using or if there is a better alternative? Thanks.0 -
Standard one as supplied here too, no problems. Not sure on brand.0

Mines a carbon one with an ali top. Also came with a post anti slip collar.

FSA K Force works a treat and complements the frames curves and graphics

Is there any seat clamp with the Sportive frame if I just order frame and fork? Should I use a star nut or an expanding stem cap, I can´t find out if the fork have carbon composite steerer tube.

I've got the "Planet X Superlight Pro Carbon 2 Bolt Hinged Seatpost 31.6mm" on my bike which admittedly isn't a Ribble Sportive but it removes the need for the shim from your bike and looks very nice on my bike.0

Hi Patrick,
Seat clamp is included. It has a carbon steerer tube on the fork. Hope this helps.

And which one do they use? I will only buy a frame and fork.0

It's the CSN carbon seatpost sold by Ribble(their own brand one) . 20 odd quid to buy, 31.6mm diameter. The same one on Dave's (Skinson's) bike and mine.0

I just figured out that the Ribble Sportive comes from this manufacturer.

I'd measure the seat tube to make sure it isn't oversize or not round - not the first time some's screwed up reaming the seatube and would explain why your post keeps slipping - for a 31.6 post I'd expect it to be no bigger than 31.8mm otherwise it'll be tricky to get it to stay. The FSA K-Force is a nice post, particularly as there's some for around £60 at the momentMake mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

Firstly why use carbon paste for an Alu post ? It is only meant to be used carbon to carbon.
My post was also slipping, the collar is the wrong size - change it, or as I got my LBS to do, use a piece of rubber as a shim on the collar, bit like you get with some light fitting kits.My knees hurt !0
