Anyone else notice how Andy Parsons on Mock the Week isn't actually funny? ...seems to be one of those comedians who can mimic the 'delivery' of a good rant but forgets that what he's saying isn't funny.

(On the other hand Angelos Epithemiou on Shooting Stars seems to have come out of nowhere and everything he does seems funny).

Hooray - glad someone else has noticed.

No - he just says it in that way that he says things to make you think it's funny.

    But it's not

I thought it was the other way around, sometimes I think what he says would crack me up if someone else said it. As it is, meh.

  • I went to see him years ago before he became well known. Of course, his early material was much ..... the same and not funny.

    Rich Hall is funny.

I'd find it difficult to knock any of the MTW regulars, easily one of the funniest shows on telly [1]. Frankie Boyle is in another league altogether, though, and seems to be getting even better as the series goes on.

[1] Although Peep Show is back on Channel 4 tonight - hooray! Won't actually get to see it as I'm stuck in work until 11:30, though ("pulling an all-nighter" as Mark Corrigan himself would put it) - not so hooray. :(

  • Frankie Boyle live is hilarious and god on MTW

Andy Parsons- good but overshadowed on MTW, seen him live and enjoyed it a fair bit

Russell Howard- seen him live and loved him then realised everything he does on MTW is form his stand up, nothing new.

And no the guy on shooting stars aint funny, silly people.

I noticed a while ago that although you saw the other MTW regulars on other programmes or on solo specials or live tours, I'd never seen Andy Parsons on anything else.

So, seeking enlightment, I asked my teenage son the question "How come Andy parsons is never on anything else?"

"Cos he ain't funny, no-one thinks he's funny Dad. doh.

Yeah but at least he did last year's Etape du Tour. Parsons didn't so that means....

    Nothing actually.

  • I like frankie boyle but i think he's relying more and more on the shock factor now.
  • ...i've thought about this!...when away on holiday i dont get to see/hear this type of comedy and dont miss it at all. When home i watch it and laugh as we all do....really it is very snidy and at times really nasty bitter rants that i now think demeans us all. It takes from our soul!!....honestly Guys this is just Manning etc re hashed, our kids will look back with horror as we do at the comics from the 70's with their vile filled rants.
  • Blimey, thought it was only me that would fall asleep waiting for him to set up a punch line.
I may be a minority of one but that doesn't prevent me from being right.

I quite like his humour actually. Its less shock tactic than Boyle, less surreal than "he with wonky eye" (forget his name  )

I hate him with a passion.....not funny in the slightest.....pretty much ruins MTW. Frankie Boyle is of course the saving grace of the show. (and Russell Howard)

Bless him, he does his best but it never works. I think it's in the deivery - repeated use of mid sentence emphasis-followed-by-pause-for-effect, regardless of whether the situation warrants it.

Well, you forgot one person in your list.

    Michael McIntyre.

...I suppose some people will find Andy Parsons funny, but then again, some people think having your pants hanging out of the top of your jeans is 'cool' too and you wouldn't be able to explain to them how f**king stupid they look either would you?

(I suppose that started off with muscular rappers showing off the top of calvin kleins but skinny dope smoking d*ckheads in crap fitting £20 jeans from TopMan... that's taking the prize biscuit for looking dumb)

Who is this Stan Lin bloke and what did he do that impressed Mark Steel so much?

    Pip pip.

And yes I did miss off Michael McIntyre, and for that I apologise. Not Funny, as funny as Jethro.
