Our cycling club needs a good 3-4 day route - suggestions?

Hi,

Over the past few years, our MTB club has done a long ride every Spring. These include the Coast To Coast and a couple of great XC rides through France. We are currently planning what to do in 2010 and I wondered if anyone had any suggestions? As I mentioned, 3-4 days and around the 150 mile mark on mostly bridleways is just the job. Ideally we are looking for something in the south of England to mimnimise travel time.

Thanks in advance for any ideas.

Cheers,

Snelly.

  • south downs way, can be done in 24 hours if you're a mental xc head, but you could easily stretch it for 3-4 days there and back!

Thanks for that - great suggestion but we live on the SDW and ride it every weekend on various sections.

    Cheers for the reply though.

  • Top section of the West Highland Way, although you can do it all, but apparently some of the sections at the top of loch lomond are a fair bit of hike a bike with some difficult steps. I have done the top part from Ardlui train station, there is a short bit on road, and then more or less off road with amazing scenery from there to Fort William! Its a great ride with a mix of everything and you do feel like you are in the middle of the high mountains for most of it. Ardlui to Crianlarich for a good gentle first day, then Crianlarich to Bridge of Orchy, next day Bridge of Orchy to Kinlochleven, then final day Kinlochleven to Fort William. You really feel in the wilderness, and in spring there are no midges! :-D
