Can a Tiagra TRIPLE front derailleur be used with a double ring set up?

    i think theres only one type of tiagra front mech? mine only has a compact but the shifters/mech can be used on a triple so gotta be carefull not to shift past big chainring

    so as long as the stop screws are adjusted correctly it should be fine.

    It can but it will not be quite as good as a double one due to slightly different geometry. You should have no problem with overshifting as the travel is controlled by the stop screws not the shifter.
    There are 4 Tiagra front mechs. Double and triple in both clamp on or braze on fittings.
