Clarkson - What a load of s***!

Nothing worse than having a load of detritus dumped on your own doorstep, is there? Pretty much the same feeling a Waterstones branch manager probably gets as another consignment of The World According To Clarkson [1] arrives from the publisher.

I can't think of a more deserving recipient.......

....oh, hold on, maybe I can. Seems like James Martin has put in a late bid for t**t of the year 2009.
  • Inland Revenue ought to do a check up on his status -- does he claim to live in Oxfordshire or the tax-friendlier Isle of Man, since he appears to have homes in both places? It's not just politicians whio can take advantage of expenses.

Daughter of a baronet is an activist, thats just plain annoying. They drove to Clarkson's house, in a van with an engine. Chip fat oil was used as their fuel. Where do these people think their electricity comes from for their communication, media, heating etc? Do they do without and burn twigs and eat raw veg ? Mr Clarkson cannot be taken too seriously, it is just entertainment.

Whats better, a bag of poo on you lawn to watch or an episode of Top gear ?

    Comments please.............

Not sure the logic of comparing one person to a nation which holds over 1billion people quite works.

Always better to start at your own doorstep before you try and sort out the rest of the world, especially when the rest of the world doesn't want that help from you.

Thats the thing tho, targetting Clarkson may get you some easy publicity (it worked!) but actually making a difference? Not a bit. Doesn't the UK emit about 2% of global carbon emissions, i'm sure I've read that more than a few times, so if we cut ours by even by 20% say..well it's not going to change much overall.

Well what else can you do other than sort out your own mess?

  • Who said it was a mess :?

The human race contributes less than 1% of the global CO2 and we contribute 2% of this "less than 1%"

And the government is putting up the duty on fuel when they're allowing airport expansions and more planes to fly in/out of the UK :?

I saw a documentary on TV that said a one way trans Atlantic flight emits more CO2 per head than the typical person in the UK emits all year :?

I'm so glad I never bought a Blue-Motion-EcoTec-Green-Saver-Spud-Mobile as I'm with Clarkson. Next cars going to be a 15 litre V24 with a direct line to BP

This is meant in the nicest possible way, teagar, you seem to miss the goalpost by millimetres most of the time. What do you do for a living ? Just curious, not being nasty.

Should be going into a graduate job with a firm well known to recruit plenty of graduates.

You'll be in good company then, lots of graduates in that firm.

I bet one of those tree huggers would find it equally funny if someone dumped a gallon of engine oil on their organic vegatable patch...not.

Thing that puzzles me is the implicit assumption that having a load of horse poo dumped on your lawn is a bad thing! I'd just move it onto the vegetable patch and say 'thanks'.
  • According to the Sun report that's exactly what he did do :)

I'm a bit of lefty at heart but I like Clarkson & think that these protestors are just middle class wastrels who are too overqualified to get a job & take it out on those they feel superior too. This sort of inane protest just annoys a small number of people, nothing more.

Protesters make me think of Pulp's Common people, its a life they chose because they want to buck against the system, and can leave any time they want.

That aside, I need some manure, I may start spouting off about non green subjects to get my brassicas on the go....

    ..

Not all protesters are middle class you know - me and my wife were very active in the 90s - i'm working class and my wife was brought up on a council estate in se London.

The group we were involved with were largely working people from south London many of whom were fed up with the traffic thundering past their flats and the associated noise and pollution.

We weren't protesting because it was a lark you know...we were protesting becasue it was the only way of making ourselves heard.

My experience is that although the majority of protesters are not posh - but the posh ones rise to the top like scum and take over, making the biggest noise. It's why i'm not involved any more.

But rest assured - most protesters are not posh or priveleged by any means.

Understood, thanks for the heads up, like you say the high profile ones rise to the top and they are the ones who misrepresent the ideal of the protest. I will have to stop my generalisations.
