Hi All,

Got to watch the ToB go past today, live and in the flesh! To my shame I admit this is the first time I've managed to do this, and only now because it passed so close to my home! It was great to see the guys all working hard and, although I found it hard to recognise any of the riders in the short time you have to see them (Kim Kirchen maybe), it felt great to do. Today Woolavington Hill, next year the Champs Elysees!

  • Glad you enjoyed it. That's the great thing about the ToB, it was my first race to see in the flesh (think I've seen it thrice so far) and every time you see live racing you learn stuff to make it better next time!
  • I was at the start in Frome today and it was brilliant. From seeing garish team buses to drooling over team bikes, it was excellent. No Wiggo today obviously which disappointed my 5 year old daughter (she's a bit of a fangirl) but we both enjoyed the continent visiting our little South West enclave today.
Let's close our eyes and see what happens

+1 I think Frome gave the Tour a pretty good send off today. Substantial crowds for the ToB and the town had shed loads of events happening last night.

Frome gets my vote for a regular start town

Was in Bideford for the finish, the town put on a fantastic show, really nice finish straight.

Well done ToB, well done Bideford

    Off to London tomorrow.

Last year was excellent I was able to wander around the team bus area got loads of pics and was also able to have brief chats with the riders. Tyler Hamilton was a lovely guy and DiLuca for all his faults does look the dude on a bike!

Hopefully it'll be as open this year.
  • I marshalled at the finish in Gretna and the following day at the start and finish in Blackpool and I can highly recommend anyone to give it a go next year. You really get a chance to see what goes on behind the scenes, see all the riders at close quarters, all the support activites such as the polices & escort riders, and get to say you helped out. I even got to meet Dave Brailsford and get a photo with him! It was a really good couple of days & the crowds we brilliant.
Never underestimate the stupidity of the general public.
