Is there a spell check facility on the reply boxes?

  • No but if you use Firefox web browser you can use the British English dictionary extension which underlines misspelt text as you go along, it's not the last word and is still being tweaked but still reasonably accurate: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3366

If you use that Internet Explorer thing then IeSpell might do you: http://www.iespell.com/index.htm

IE users - download something called IE7Pro (works for all versions). Included excellent spell checker that underlines spelling mistakes as you type them.
You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.

Google Chrome spell checks as you type as well.
My Website - Trail Centre info for the UK: MTB Trail Time
  • Safari also underlines in red, but strangely not when I use it from the iphone.

lol. if you're going down that route you might as well get a complete front end like maxthon / avant.

If you want standalone and don't like IeSpell have a look at tinySpell - is probably the dinkyiest inline spell checker around even when you add a British English dictionary: http://tinyspell.m6.net/
  • My Mac spell checks all Web (Firefox & Sfari) and chat (Adium) apps by default.
I only use 'doze systems at work and often take spell checking for granted, so I often find myself editing and correcting typos when using IE
  • pah, who cares how you spell something, so long as people can read it. This aint no class room!!

  • Depends how bad the spelling is I spose. If it comes out looking like Mandarin Chinese text speak then it won't get read and it defeats the object of you trying to communicate in the first place. lol.

That American guy in the beginners section a month or so back was funny. Totally illegible and was told so. lol.
  • You come across a bit less of a bell end if you spell things correctly too.

That's because it changes the words for you, which can be a right pita

My spellings ok on most words. Sometimes you look at a word and think 'that's not right'.

Most forum providers provide a spell checker. Saying that looking at the spelling and grammar of some people on here I aint got nothing to worry about :lol:
