What a good ride the other day. For the first time in ages it was lovely and dry!

Anyway let me know your thoughts on the video.

Good vids there! Enjoying some of the others as well! Ladybower is a great place to ride! Done the beast a fair few times, and the second part of that (Gores Heights/ Suicide brake) is one of my fave descents anywhere!
Cavedale does not look much on vid! You just dont get the feel for how steep and slippy it is!

Nice vid! Had to mute it though - hate music on vids like that lol!

Not done the Beast, looks fun - I like fast, loose rocky trails. Probably have to helitape the underside of the zaskar though lol.

I liked the cavedale video, takes me way back to 1992 or so. I was coming down there on my MBK and tipped over into one of the many clumps of nettles  For about an hour after that I was hot then cold then hot then cold etc.

A lot of pedestrians around on the day you went down though

Camera is a Helmet hero wide, which is bloody great bi of kit 8)

Full route then... was only a quick was as i set off at 3pm and had to get home. So started at Ladbower CP (opposite the res, if you take the left turn over the little bridge) then up along the rail way line to near Hope. Then up hillside to Hope Cross. Down Beast. Up Lockerbrook. Down other side. Coffee at the Cafe. Around the bottom half of the res. Onto the moors via the slab hill. cut throat bridge decent. decent behind ladybower inn. Home

Thanks for the comments guys. Always appreciated! Does alway upset me a little when i watch them back and ALL of the decents look easy, but then that is just what cameras do i guess lol!

    Cheers,

Nice , you can't beat a bit of Billy Talent.

You Sir clearly are correct! 8)
  • Off at a tangent slightly, but I saw them play at King Tut's a few years ago and they had the greatest rock 'n' roll ending to a gig I've ever seen. Ian D'Sa, the lead guitarist, finished a monumental solo, raised his guitar above his head, and threw it straight through the bass drum. He then saluted and walked off stage with the rest of the band.
Let's see The Feeling try that one.

    Ps - Cool vids.

Legend! I'm going to see them in Nottingham in October, will be epic! 8) Brother had just seen them at Leeds fest and said they were quality!

ARGH, handlebar mounted camera. Makes me feel dizzy in the lowest speed sections.

Beast is not that quick, too rough and loose (well it is for me!) The latter part of the vid when flying down the singletrack bit is Suicide brake (gores Heights)

The beast really isn't that quick. All about picking your line i find. You have to be committed to ride it i find. Always great fun, and every time i go down it is slightly different. God bless erosion!

Found that bar mount is by far the best/most stable, and offers the best viewing experience.

I usually fall off doing the Beast :D Defo a line job and even then its damp and not too much grip. Suicide, just let the brakes off and go as fast as you dare- Great stuff! :D

  • Great vid, good quality.

Did it come straight off the camera in that quality or did it need wditing heavily?

Felt Redemption in this instance. But have riden on my Giant NRS.

Rode it twice on my CX bike also, now that was fun! Especially when you get to the bottom and there are mountain bikers there.

Only edits are the obvious bits, eg: sped up and B&W sections. Apart from that straight out camera :) A good mount is essential for quality i find.

cheers for the reply will, thought the cameras a good price especially for the quality your getting. you've done the beast on your cx = bet it was a bit sketchy!!

supersonic- i've been down the beast on an anthem and a trance x

Rode the beast for the first time last sunday... on a hardtail with Dart 3 forks

    Bloody hard work!

  • Didn't realize there was trails like that at Ladybower, its not that far to drive from me either!!

I've ridden the full red route at Dalby and the wall at Afan this summer on my hardtail!!! The 'rock garden' section of the wall were...in a word...horrible!! Dalby was hard work too but not as bad!

I don't mind short rocky sections on trails but too many, too long and it just gets hard work!!

I can't wait to get a full sus to see how different it feels!!!
I love the sound my tyres make on dusty single track!

Wasn't that bad if i'm being honest. Obviously you couldn't hit it at much speed, I got down without having to get off. Just even more so about picking your line.

The camera is a very good price, as a said, a cool bit of kit! Nothing I would change about it 8)

A good suspension fork makes it a much more fun decent though

Here is the video of the beast on my cx bike. Camera angle and mount was rubbish so tbh you don;t really fully appreciate it. http://vimeo.com/3408901

Great vid, really enjoyed that 8)

A lot of these end up being a bit boring, but you clearly have a bit of a talent there for producing.
Fantastic trails too, hopefully I'll be good enough to tackle stuff like that one day :D

I actually liked the handlebar mount view. Headcams are Ok but you loose a lot of perspective IMO and for some of the time, you end up looking at sky shots or off to the side somewhere.

I hadn't heard the music before but it was fine, fitted in well with the video. I much prefer the mic sounds but if you don't have one, I'd far rather a backing track than nothing.

Keep up the good work 8)

    Cheers,

    Chris :)

Thanks very much! :D The main issue I have with Helmet camera videos is like you say, generally they are boring. So i do try and make an effort to at least get them slightly interesting with a mixture of shots.

I tried the helmet mount once. Not only was it heavy, but the quality wasn't very good and just bar mount was 100 times better!

There is quite a lot of windnoise, so i just put music on, i like the music on videos though
