Hi all,

Currently I'm in the slippery slope of looking at new bits and peices for the bike.

The bike in question is a Racelight RC2 Kinesis setup running a campagnolo 9 speed set up on Campagnolo Vento G3 rims with 700 x 23 Michelins.

Can someone please tell me that buying new wheels that I may 'prefer the look of' or are 'more aero' are totally not required at this stage :) and that my Ventos are perfectly good for the forseeable future :)

Thanks,

Dru.

    Ok,

Lets take this thread in another way.

    Campagnolo Vento G3 rims with 700 x 23 Michelins.

What sort of wheels would be seen as the next jump up in performance and what would those benefits be?

After that jump up I guess the next jump up would be deep rim wheels, again, what sort of performance increase would they realistically give me in say a 20km TT and are there any drawbacks to them?

    Many thanks,

    Dru

personally I think you would need to step up to at least Eurus / Fulcrum Racing1 level to reduce the weight enough - not sure about the mavic range - one of the higher end ksyriums I would imagine.

performance over 20k TT - probably negligible - but you will look a million dollars on the start line and that's what really counts.

cheers - regarding deep section and or carbon wheels they seem to be similar wheels (some are more)

Is the question there that the aero benefit outweights the weight - and thus on a flat race/tt/ride aero wheels are the ones to go, but for courses with climbs its better to have a lighter wheel thats easier to spin up?

Sorry for what might sound silly novice questions - but thats currently where I am :)

Would these sort of things be seen as a proper upgrade?

How long have you been cycling ? If this is your first winter - I'd put your money into some nice kit to keep you riding through the cold.

For £400 you can get a new pair of Planet-Xs which use the same rims
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..
