Throwing few ideas about with my brother and I facny building a cheap trail bike for taking to whinlatter and such like.

It was the stupid low price of the On-Ones that go me thinking!

How much do you reckon I could build one up for? Would be buying second hand etc... but would like it to be lightish. Somethin like:
Frame On-One Inbred
Fork Tora U-turn
Wheelset Xero Session Freeride Disc DH
F Mech Deore
R Mech Deore
Brakes Hfx-9
Cassette Deore?
Shifters LX
Chainset Race Face Ride XC Chainset
Seat Selle Italia X0 Saddle 2008
Seat Post FSA FR-200 7075
Bars eXotic Meta Riser Handlebar
Stem eXotic Meta F Stem
grips imperial
chain PC951
cables clarkes pre lube
tyres 2.1 Hrs
pedals candys

I could then keep my Maxlight for less strenuous local roads and lonnings etc...

Or am I being stupid when I only need the Maxlight???

  • I don't think that build would be light and i think you'd find a lot of overlap with your maxlight (depending on how that's built.

still, looks like a fun trail bike in its own right.

I'd budget it up and then see what you can get prebuilt on the interweb for the same money. You may surprise yourself
Everything in moderation ... except beer
Beer in moderation ... is a waste of beer

If riding an XC race bike is like touching the trail,
then riding a rigid singlespeed is like licking it
... or being punched by it, depending on the day

I think there is a lot of overlap too, I don't I could do much on the inbred that I couldn't do on my Maxlight (Skills and Fear the limiting factor!!!)

I'll put my money elsewhere me thinks!!
  • i wouldn't put adjustable forks on the inbred, i had a set of u-turn toras on mine and it was only really pleasant to ride between 90-110mm so it now has a set of sids on.
