Shorts for women

My wife is looking for some new shorts (conventional, not bib). Does she need women specific ones or are all shorts basically unisex?

    She may be able to wear mens shorts but if you were to compare men/womens chamois you'll see the difference. My partner uses the Assos womens shorts, generally the half short ie no bib but she has recently got a pair of Castelli free bibs to try. The Assos pad is quite thick but I'm told v.comfortable. The panels are cut different as well to accomodate the female form. Can't tell you what to get, but generally the Assos are the best, but others eg Castelli,Nalini,Izumi may work
