Insurance claim?

Recently had some bags stolen whilst on holiday, question is, should I make a claim on my travel insurance. I reckon the total kit that is missing is about £300ish, I could just right the whole thing off, but if I make a claim does it then raise my future insurance costs? A bit like losing the no claims on a car? Do insurance companies share information on different types of insurance? Anyone work in the insurance industry out there?
