Does anyone ride with different sized front & rear tyres on their bikes.

I'm just about to have a crack @ Ghetto tubeless, I use a 2.35" eXCeption Ignitor on the front and either a 2.35" eXCeption or a 2.1" non-eXCeption Ignitor on the rear and can't really make my mind up which is better.

Just wonering if there are any pros/cons to using a smaller width tyre on the rear.

Also do people run tyres with less tread on the rear, i.e. a Highroller Maxxpro on the front and a Larsen TT on the rear? I've also considered this, but how does a Larsen cope with wet trails?

Kobbly on the front, semi slick on the back is a fairly common combination. Different size tyres is less common but not an issue

Most of the rolling resistance come from the back tyre so sacrificing grip for speed makes sense. And you always want the balance of grip to be towards the front.

Catching the back end as it slides is fun, catching the front end as it slides is at best scary and at worst painful when you don't catch it!

All the time - I think the tyres are meant to be used that way. The front tyre generally clears a path for the rear so all it has to do is hook up.

Currently running a 2.4 NN up front and an absolutely sh*gged 2.25 NN on the back.

The 2 tyres do a completely different job, so what works on one end doesn't always work on the other. Best to approach each seperately.

My stumpy cmae with different sized tyres as standard. 2.2 o the front and a 2.0 on the rear.

more width on the front = more grip
less width on the rear = less rolling resistance

I will always replace like for like as it works a treat for me.

The spesh "the captain" tyres have been good IMO and while out in the wet yesterday I thought they were OK despite many people saying they were rubbish in the wet. Lets face it how many tyres are actually going to grip a wet root?
