Well after all the umming and arrring on thu I drove the 2h 45 mins from Manchester to Epic Cycles and its the best decision I've ever made.
Epic have just become my number one bike dealer they gave me a customer service experience unlike any I've ever had form any bike shop around here.
At first I thought the Sat Nav was playing games on us as we negotiated the smallest country lanes with seconds until we arrived and no town or village in sight. Then relieve as a Epic cycles sign appeared. And we pulled up in a little court yard with the shop in front of us. What a location and perfect for test riding bikes.
On arrival we were offered a cup of tea/ coffee from Simon and then we discussed what I was after and i was then fitted for my bike. Thanks to his help I ended up with a completely different bike to what i was expecting to take home. I'd had my eye on an Orbea Onix and Viner Magnifica. I ended up taking home a Bianchi B4P 928 carbon mono Q. With Mavic ksyrium Equippe wheels and Ultegra 6600 with FSA carbon crankset. I even got a nice little deal off them which made things even better.

If anyone is after a new bike I can honestly say that they are worth the extra effort to go see them. Phone them up book a fitting with them. I understand now why they have such a good reputation with others off here. If I'm ever after a new bike they will be my first port of call. I'd rather spend an extra £20 in petrol and go there than give my money to the miserable buggers I've come across on my search for a new bike.
Bianchi. There are no alternatives only compromises!
I RIDE A KONA CADABRA -would you like to come and have a play with my magic link?

  • +1 for Epic too.Got my onix from there a few months ago and they were brill.Didnt try to force me to buy what they had in stock and the fitting and test rides last a good couple of hours. If ever you want a new bike or just some advice give them a call.
SOME PEOPLE ARE LIKE SLINKIES; NOT REALLY GOOD FOR ANYTHING BUT THEY BRING A SMILE TO YOUR FACE WHEN PUSHED DOWN THE STAIRS

    That's quite a mouthfull

Very nice bike :) I particularly like the rear stays as they are very elegant and make most other carbon bikes look chunky. I looked at one longingly but it was a bit out of my price range so quickly looked away !!

Have you any initial impressions or have you yet to pick it up ?
  • Nice great when you find a shop for you.

My shout goes to Strada Cycles in Bristol. Superb advice and gear.
  • I got to take it with me which was a great suprise, as I wasn't expecting to be taking a bike home lol. Took it out for a 30 miler today for the first time. Was a firm but comfy ride. Much comfier than my trek 1.5. It rode and dampened out the road well. I'm still new ro this but even I could feel the difference in the stiffness of the frame and its ability to distribute the power especially when I was both sat down and out of the saddle going uphill.
I hadn't even thought of getting a bianchi but I'm glad they pointed me to it as I think its a great bike which looks much better in the flesh. Photo's don't do it any justice at all. Its a very elegant bike.

  • Glad it worked out - after sorting out my position on my current bikes, they will be my first point if call next time around.
Carlsberg don't make cycle clothing, but if they did it would probably still not be as good as Assos

Same happened to me... I went for an Orbea Orca and came away with a Cinelli Willin'! I love it to bits... Never off it!
I saw a guy called Ben, but got the same level of service as you.
    A huge +1 from me, too. :D

  • I saw Ben as well. Got the Orbea Orca I wanted, but saved £400 by taking the regualr version rather than the 2009 Evo frameset. :)

Next time stick around in the area a little. There are some beautiful roads there (I lived in Leominster for years). My parents still live there, and I consider it home :)

+2 Exemplary customer service from Chris and Ben.

I went there because their Orbeas were cheaper than my LBS. However, once I'd discussed my requirements I went for a Racelight TK (year-round use with mudguards) Didn't try to sell me the bike they had in stock; ordered in the size I needed in the colour I wanted. Fitting and test riding took all afternoon. I got to choose all the bits, and it was ready before I had chance to tell my wife  Couple of weeks later noticed the seatpost slipping down a bit; by return of email I got the correct seat height measurement and some carbon assembly paste in the post.

TomTom does like to take you the 'interesting' route.

At least you had Tom Tom... I had to use the VW one that came with the motor... I have more arguments with 'her' than I ever had with my wife!
