The Photon Shop is where I got my L2D. Do they do a P6 or P7 that takes AA's?
I think the TK40 is the only thing close, but it is far too large for bike use. Fenix LD2's or LD20's are great - plenty of output and runtime for unlit road commutes, great quality and reliability, but if you want best bang per buck then P7's via the Dealextreme route is the way to go. Dealextreme are actually a great company to deal with, despite what you may think about dealing with a Chinese supplier.

OK, the bottom line....what P7 torch should I be buying (link please) and which holder to hold it on my bars (I want a plastic type clip, like the Fenix one, not velcro)?

The Fenix holder is not good. I bought one from The Photon Shop. It rattles, and it is slow to remove. The Twofish Lockblock is far superior. (Rob at the Photonshop sent me a Lockblock replacement free of charge!). I reduced the rattling of the Fenix with ptfe tape, but I don't bother using it now, too fiddley.

The only criticism of the Lockblock is that your torch can move up or down over the bumps if the lockblock is fitted to bare metal bars. Over bar tape its fine, on my mtb I just put a strip of inner tube around the bar and it stays put. Honestly, it may seem simple, but simple is often the best!
