I'm close to buying a frame from Ribble, I intend to build a first road bike for my Wife. I picked up on this thread and thought I'd ask the forum for opinions both of Ribble as a vendor and of their frames.

First hand experience only, please!

  • Bottom line is that their customer service used to be truly awful.
However, this has apparently improved at lot of late.

I bought Bike from them in the bad old days simply because their value for money was and continues to be above anything else on the market.

Frames are good but don't expect fine finishing like on a Colnago.

I've spent an awful lot of money with Ribble, including a frame. No problems at all. Had a problem once with a faulty part, which was replaced very quickly.

  • Only bought small(ish) things from them with no problem although others on here have had nightmares.

Have had my current road bike for six years off them, its been good, had wheels off them again no complaints.
  • Sounds very positive. Very good to hear tale of a problem being fixed. Thanks for the replies.

Not had any problems. Bought a Audax/winter hack from them. Set up to perfection. Frame quality a bit iffy....screwed bottle cage in & threaded mount came out of frame. A dab of glue later & all sorted. It's a heavy bugger aswell.

Delivery etc was good. Waited three weeks but it was delivered as promised.

I think they buy their frames from China just like Dolan does. Don't know if it's the same factory

Good-enough frames - excellent prices - I've been pleased with my Ribble frameset - good price, well-enough made, fast-ish delivery, well packed by Ribble - all in all , a good transcation. If you want adequate frames at excellent prices, try Ribble - would recommend.
  • My commuter bike's a Ribble, is great.

RIbble are good at selling stuff. Really efficient at that, get stuff out fast and accurately.

They are really slow at building and despatching bikes though.

They're more than bit reluctant at dealing with warranties too. I had some brand new Veloce shifters that broke on like their second ride out - they wouldn't replace and insisted on sending back for repair which took 4 months. It took 3 months for them to get my Neutron Ultras fixed too. Wiggle on the otherhand replaced a £70 Cateye single shot plus that broke on a Tuesday with a brand new light on the Thursday, without going to the manufacturer/distributer.

TBH I'll take my chances and still buy stuff off them as their prices are so good.

+1 for Ribble, got the Sportive in May before the price rise.
Clothing & component prices beat Wiggle as well

Been dealing with Ribble for last 7 years and have had no real problems. When i ordered my winter bike as a kit it turned up at 09:00 on a Monday morning with two front wheels and no rear, phoned them up straight away and about 3 o'clock the same day a courier turned up with a rear wheel.

  • Personally I would not buy from Ribble. I have found their customer service pretty crap and not that keen on helping.

My road bike is a Ribble with Compag groupset. I bought it 2nd hand albeit practically new, and it's lovely to ride. It was bought this year new.
Looks great without being too flashy and the finish is very good.
    Gets my vote.

Bought a fair number of parts from them. Mainly stuff on specials at good prices.

All arrived quickly in NZ with no problems.
