Cut Gate at the moment

Ive just been given the day off tomorrow and Ive always wanted to to the Cut Gate

As its been dry for a bit and with the recent work it looks like a good day

Im coming from the South so will have to start at Ladybower roughly speeaking
I know people usually say start at the top but this will add ages to my journey

So people I need to know the following please:

Are the conditions good at the moment?
If it rains tonight will it still be OK?
Do I take the left or right way to descend from the top to Langsett?
Which is the better climb of the two back up?
How long would it take an averagely fit rider setting off from the A57 to go all the way up the reservoirs, over the top then back to the A57?
How long roughly would the above take with a detour back up Derwent Edge and down Cut Throat Bridge?

Cheers!!!!!

PS Ive ridden up CTB a few times and always fancied it as a descent hence the last question

Its dry up there at the moment!A night of rain won't make too much difference.Personally we take the left path down(mickledon edge)and the right path(midhope moor)up.We did a 30mile loop including CTB and crookhill farm/suicide brake in around 4:30 (ride time)and we aren't racing snakes! We always start from Langsett cos its 10 mins from my house and the M1
  • I was in that area today, didnt ride cut gate but was fairly close. Its was near enough bone dry so was very fun.

Yer, take the left route down Mickledon, fast fast fast! :D:D:D
Iwas was with ibbo on the big ride, and conditions were good then, with the dry spell it should be excellent up there!
