Bike hanger?

Any one use those bike hangers that you fix to the wall and then hang your bike off using the front wheel?

Have seen them about and think that they may be the best space saving option for me but do wonder whether or not they do any damage to the wheel???

Also I'd need two, one for a road bike and one for a mountain bike. Anyone know whether you have to buy specific ones?

Thanks.

I got two from Halfords that are pretty much the same as every other make I have seen.

Got two road bikes hanging from them but they also take a MTB tyre no problem at all. Best £20 I have spent for a while tbh.

Bikehut Bike Wall Storage Hanger £8.99 but the link on the site is dead.
  • If you can wait till I get home (I'm at work at the mo) I'll get you the details of where I got my gravity bike hanger from. It takes 2 bikes and leans against the wall. Its a nice solid bit of kit requires no screwing to the wall. It just clips together really easily. Its the best bit of kit I've bought for my bike.

  • Got a Topeak one that has a couple of hooks for hanging jackets/helmet etc from. Been great - best bit of space saving in our flat by a country mile. No damage at all to the wheel.
  • I got 4 of the Halfords hangers in the garage - with a fifth waiting to be installed when I get round to it. Two road bikes, one mountain bike and one hybrid currently comfortably accommodated.

They work perfectly for me, I have them at staggered heights so as to maximise use of space - and accommodate further future purchases...

Big plastic coated screw hooks, about 99p each from DIY stores - simply screw into a roof joist and hang bike by the wheel - everything else is overkill
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

Here you go look on the link. This is the cheapest place to get it from I could find.
It is seriously sturdy bit of kit. I have both my bikes on it and it doesn't move one little bit. You don't have to do any drilling or faffing about. Also unlike some systems it looks nice and sturdy without looking to ugly.

I actually have it in my bedroom opposite my bed. So first thing in the morning I wake up to my lovely Trek and my brand new shiney spanking Bianchi . They look like artwork up against the wall.

Muffin Man: yr stand looks good. Does the single hook work well a sloping top tube?
    vintage newbie, spinning away
  • the fitting has 3 position so you can have each one straight across or sloping left or sloping right . If I get chance I'll take a piccy and post it on here. Before having both my bikes on it we had my fiances mtb on it. Which is a girlie sloping tube frame and we had that set so the frame fitted on it. When looking at the mtb it looked like it was perfectly straight as the holder was sloping to accomadate the frame.

We live in a little flat and this has been the best thing ever. I got some of the ceiling hanging brackets from Aldi but we then saw this and never bothered with all the messing about. It was together and the bikes up against the wall in 5 mins.

The actual fitting is a piece of metal tubing which is bent in a squared off u shape so you end up with 2 rubber coated prongs sticking out to rest your top bar on. The bar is secured to the frame by a heavy duty plastic housing which clips onto the stand. Like I said early its a real solid and stable piece of kit.

  • Thanks Fungus. I really like the look of that. If you could post some pics that would be great
