Hi there,
have just received my new road bike (first one in 30 years!!) and have been offered a really good price on the following pedals: NEW 2010 Shimano PD-5610 105 SPD-SL Black Road Pedals. Now i'm very familiar with shimano off road shoes and pedals but am unsure as to whether or not I'd have to have specific shimano shoes to go with them?
Any advice greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Any shoes that take have a 3 hole cleat pattern will be fine mate, and that's pretty much every modern road shoe.
Of course you will now be deluged with lots of "don't get SPD-SL's, you need Look, Speedplay, Crank Brothers....blah".
I haven't used SPD-SL but thousands of happy people have.0 -
Thanks for that and to be honest I'm open to all suggestions for any combination.
My budget for both is £100 so if anyones got any recommendations?
Usage isnt going to be massive as with winter coming up I'll probably do more mountain biking but weight will be a consideration as I've just purchased the Team Carbon Boardman so dont want to be slinging great heavy pieces of metal on it.
Thanks again.0 -
I was about to say the same, but hadn't seen them that cheap.
I don't think you can go far wrong with these shoes and some SPS-SL's and you may well come in under £90 for both.
In fact i think these take SPD's as well which can be had for £20 from Ebay or Merlin Cycles.0
