Brake pads

Has anyone ever had ay problems with pads being just a little bit on the large side causing drag.
I refitted some ceramic disco brakes which were fine but the brand new ones dragged quite a bit to begin with, not so bad now.
I know my pistons are retracting correctly and i've even bled them just to make sure.
Anyone else had this problem.
I've used quad pads which have been fine im guessing their quality control is a bit better.

The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.

Nope normally it is the pistons are not fully home.
And i have fitted quite a few pads to quite a few different brakes"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Hmm ok what would be the cause on a formula oro, i did put some copper slip onto the pistons to help in that regard.
They were sticking out just a tiny bit so it must be that then. The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.

So any ideas why the pistons would be sticking out a bit, the retract fine just not quite flush. The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.

Copaslip is not a good thing to put on the pistons - it may swell the seals too much.
The only thing that should be on seals/piston is water to clean them, or a tiny amount of dot fluid (or assembly grease) to fit the piston or in some cases to re wet it/push in a piston. Always wipe off excess when pushed home as it can rlease some dug in crap.0 -
I was thinking of using dot fluid, the copper slip has only been on today so come tomorrow i'll be bleeding them as it was rushed so they felt a bit spongy, the front is perfectly fine though.
So might be so simple as some crap in there or a bit of sticking, ok well im used to pita calipers from my car tinkering so if that's all it takes then i should be able to easily remedy it.
Im assuming if this doesn't sort it then a strip and regrease or replacement pistons is in order?
If i still have problems i may give up and just swap pads as the front works fine and the pads have had more usage anyway. The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.

I've fitted a set fo the ceramic discro brakes last week and they are definitely a tight squeeze, even with calipers fully retracted. I seem to remember a few other posts about this. Think it was Surfmatt had a thread about it as he bought some the same time as me, but fitted his a while ago. IIRC he had same problem and other posters did as well.
Theyt are OK now though and stopping power is good! You don't need eyes to see, you need vision0 -
Yeah i had another nose at them, seems there is a tiny bit more meat on the pads than others i've bought have, which is a blessing or a curse depending on how you look at it, i pushed the pistons home but tbh they wee barely sitting out so i gained just a tiny bit of clearance if any.
Im thinking because they're cheap rims the rotor mounts aren't quite even, both yes both discs appear to be slightly warped which is odd as they were 100% fine on my hope wheels so that probably doesn't help.
And it's not like im a dh rider plus i use ceramic pads so they wouldn't get anywhere near hot enough to warp them anyway.
Oh well it's sorted for now, just a tiny bit of movement from the discs. The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.
