As an alternative to a workstand, if you're bike is light enough and you have one, hang your bilke on the washing line to wash, dry, and work on. If it snaps (god forbid) then it's only £4 or thereabouts for new one.

    Used to do that when cleaning the bike when I lived at home but not on washday.
    I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.
