Marin Bolinas Ridge V Brakes

I have a 2007 Marin Bolina Ridge but find the rear brakes useless. Thesefore looking to upgrade but thought probably wise to stick with v brakes on this bike. What brakes would you recommend and are they easy to change. Would I need new cable or use the existing cable??

Just change the pads to start - try kool Stop Eagle Claw 2.
New levers can have more adjustability, and some cantis flex less - but my bet is what you have is just fine, and it is the pads.
Clean the rims too.0 -

I can only fine Eagle 2's not eagle claw's?? are they the same and if not are they as good?0
