It just occured to me that either some people may not know how to add an avatar or that some people have a photo that they would like but don't know how to reduce it to the required size.

To add an avatar: Forum > Edit Profile (top right) > Upload avatar (bottom of the screen).
It needs to be 80x80 in size or it wont fit.

If you would like me to create one for you then either post here with the photo you would like reduced or post with what you would like. I will then PM you the avatar, et voila!

I like messing about with photos etc...

  • so frenchfighter...i tried to follow your instructions but it zapped the full megapixeld photo into the forum and then crashed.

I guess I have to prepare the photo first then load it up?
  • i guess it worked..thanks
  • Cool. Yours is one of the nicer ones I've seen.

  • i have to admit my 8 year old boy prepared it from some sort of Pokemon web site...I think its a pokemon called 'hoohah'. I have yet to shrink a piccy of my own to the correct size.

Your avatar appears to be 67x80 pixels, and the forum has scaled it to 80 pixels square. Consequently, it's disproportioned and horribly aliased. Seems over-saturated too, but that's admittedly more of a personal thing.

If you want to post the original image I'll happily fix it for you.

  • You try and help people then there will always be one who tries to shoot you down. Very sad.

Furthermore brun, I think I'll pass as judging from yours you are sorely lacking in imagination.

A little oversensitive, no? If you suggest some people might not know how to properly resize a photo for an avatar yet fail to properly resize your own, it's hardly surprising that someone will pull you up on it.

Thanks for not passing judgement on my 'unimaginative' avatar.
  • You have to be a little odd to find a 13 pixel difference an issue. In addition show it to 1000 people and only one or two (people like you) will say it looks wrong, 998 will say it looks fine.

Your attitude is not a good example to others. Your comment was of no use to anyone.

Mof S, that is pretty handy.

Inspired by this thread, it's time to change mine... this is me finally under way again & enjoying the 40mph+ descent just down the road from where I removed my previous avatar from my front tyre on the Etape C this year.
To keep everyone happy, it is exactly 80X80, and a bit oversaturated.

sorted it but must admit it has always been a struggle to get them to fit

Actually, I think it's a good spoof of the well-known mobile phone firm's logo. Though a modification of the accompanying Orange slogan to "The future's bright, the future's Brown" is unlikely to cut the mustard in the current political/economic climate.

Just sorted mine. I didn't know it was that easy. I haven't got anything really original to use at the minute though.

  • I really like that - the first wheel avatar I have seen I think.
