Saw a guy on a full susser this week with clip on aero bars i thought wtf ?

Now i must admit i am getting up to around 21-22 mph on the flat on my hybrid and was wondering is it worth sticking one on?

I can sort of see the point if you're trying to get used to that position for a tri or duathlon. But I can't the see the point on the commute unless you've got a good stretch of road. I'd be no quicker using tri ars over my 14 mile commute and 3.5 miles of that is in a Park with a great road for it. You also have less control over the bike, which isn't good in traffic.

But you might consider it for the WTF??? factor..

"W" could stand for "Why" in this case.

  • was wtf mainly cos it was .....

    1 a BSO

2 he must have been over 20 stone

    3 maybe doing 12 mph

And Yup i have used aeros when i used to run my raodie so i know about the handling it was more of a mmm idea rather than a serious consideration

  • There is a brilliant chap I keep seeing on Coronation Road in Bristol who's bodged up an aero mtb - Not proper Aero mind - Just really highset bars with bar ends; he stretches out on the bar ends and tucks himself down behind the bar stem (head down) and peddels like billieo..

For some reason it always reminds me of a kid trying to go really fast on a trike...
