I did build it on my drive, apart from installing the headset which was done at my shop's workshop. I was surprised at how smoothly the Flying Snakes cables shifted. I'd like a set of SLX cranks to go with the gear kit, but that will have to wait. Got new bars on the way as the current ones are just a set of Easton Havoc's I had lying around and are heavy.

New bars have now arrived...... bargain set of FSA Pro Carbon low rise (alloy with carbon wrap for bling factor). The brakes need a bleed, 160mm with a lever pulled to the bar still isn't particularly powerful with 13 1/2 stone rider on board. I'll take it to work tomorrow and bleed them on my lunch break, then it's ready to start being ridden in anger

    Spec at the mo:

    2007 Gary Fisher Marlin frame
    Rockshox Recon SL 2009 fork
    Avid Juicy 5 160mm brakes

XT hubs, DT Comp silver spokes built onto Stans ZTR Flow rims
Conti Mountain King 2.2 protection tyres
FSA Pro Carbon low rise bars
    ODI ruffian grips
    Pro Lite 80mm stem
2007 LX crankset with 2009 SLX BB bearings
Bontrager Sport seatpost (next item to change
    Fizik Niscene HP saddle
    Sunline V1 headset
    Time Roc Atak pedals

OK, 2010 will do nicely. As long as it's working I'm happy
