Do you have to register or can you just show up on the day?
If I'm out of bed early enough I might saunter down, but last year it was full of absolute pillocks by 10:30.0 -
Might show up - specially given brother works for Sky...Le Cannon [98 Cannondale M400] [FCN: 8]

The British Cycling site say this on their FAQ page:
Do you need to register to come along?
We would love to know if you're coming along before the day, so we can roll out the red carpet treatment for everyone, and make sure everyone is going be kept safe and sound on the day. If on the day you make a last minute choice to come and join us, we'll see you there.
Has anybody tried cycling on a red carpet?0 -

Erm I refer you to my earlier post, just say and will get an intervention team on standby, the first step is admitting you have a problem.....

Yes, I'll probably be in. Did think about doing Cycle the Wight instead, but I've done the IOW once this year, SCR ride mooted as well, and I'd like the chance to give the Italian carbon some welly on the Embankment. Annoyingly, for the second year in a row there's engineering work on the line into Waterloo so I've got a two hour train journey (either that or ride 15 miles to avoid the replacement bus). I should, touch wood, have the Viner back, so if I come across DDD we'll see who the slowest carbon owner isDahon Speed Pro TT; Trek Portland

That, and:
-Vuelta is on
-World Champs are later in the week
Sky won't have any riders until January the 1st, until then any riders they have signed will still have to train/ride in their current trade team kit.0 -

Excuse my newbie-ness
If riders sign for a new team, but dont actually race for that team officially until Jan 1 does it not cause problems for team tactics/ opportunities for allegiences with future team mates
Haven't expressed that thought coherently but hopefully you get my point“New York has the haircuts, London has the trousers, but Belfast has the reason!0 -

Sort of, but generally it's the riders themselves that would suffer through announcing that they were leaving to another team, with the team not selecting them for races for the rest of the year (generally would only affect the more junior riders though)
Riders often used to announce their team change around Tour time, but this year an embargo on information was put in place til the 1st Sept.0 -
I'll be going again this year and will be taking the eldest along with me so if anyone gets passed by a little ginger haired girl on a MTB and a chap on a Giant SCR do say hello, not that I've passed on my competitive streak
I'm only expecting to get a couple of laps in and speeding will be strictly off limits (although I'm not sure I'll be able to resist a blast through BF tunnel!). I think it's going to be a good day out and the entertainment on The Mall should keep her attention, especially if the trials riders are there again :-)
IIRC last year it was fairly clear when me and DDD got there early doors but it got silly busy later on, this along with regular crossing points for pedestrians controlled by marshals, so no RLJing, meant that speed was difficult to maintain around the course.0 -

It was 18.28 miles and took 2:04 actual pedalling time or 3:30 if you include the 2 food stops and 2 tyre changes0 -

Yes, I went to both Freewheels..last year it was actually pretty easy to get some speed up at 10ish (didn't get there any earlier than I will this time).Dahon Speed Pro TT; Trek Portland

Get there early enough 9 - 10am and it might be empty enough for a 20-25mph blast around the route... though I'm not recommending, endorsing or encouraging that.Food Chain number = 4
