Was out yesterday and a wasp got lodged between my glasses and eye. Stung twice just below the eye. Now that seriously hurt and had to ride home 15 miles afterwards.

  • I had one a week ago come attack me in the face. Stung me where my glasses sit on my nose (wearing contacts at the time). Looked like I'd been in with Hatton after a day or so with the swelling.

I like nature, but draw the line at wasps.

Agreed. What exactly is the point of a wasp? They don't make honey. They don't eat any more rotting sh1t than a bluebottle. You can't eat them and they steal your beer.

This has gone on far too long! I'm calling for a public enquiry. The Government should do something about it.

    *Cue geeky response*

Wasps are very good at keeping control of other smaller insect pest - weevils and the like - which left unchecked, would cause serious problems to farmers' crops etc.

So, we kinda do need them...

Still bloody hurt though - I had one get caught between my glasses and my helmet strap - 3 stings later and my glasses in the hedgerow, I got him off.

<Chuckles at the thought of getting a wasp off>

At least bees have the good manners to die after they sting you once.

I got stung by a wasp in bed once (I wasn't trying to get it off!). I didn;t know it was there, it stung the back of my foot, felt like someone had stuck glass in my foot. Nasty!

Yeah - sorry, just re-read that...

It's sadly not all bees that die after stinging you - honey bees do, but I don't think bumble bees do. Mind you, I've never been stung by a bumble bee - they just lazily flop around from flower to flower to not a lot.

    Totally in agreeance.

There are two nests on my trail up to the peak. When I got stung there was a fella nursing his dog a few yards down the way. His poor Collie dog had fell victim also.

    Indiscriminate terrorism.

    Where will it all end?
