I'm in the process of buying parts for a jump bike i'm going to build and was wondering what brakes would be best to use on a jump bike (Hydraulic)? :)

    V brakes or Mechanical discs.

    Why?

more to go wrong. not as easy to fix when you bail and mess up.

    gyros for hydros are expensive!

an Avid BB7 is as good and any cheap hydro (or better).

    Do you really need brakes?

  • Absolutely no need for Hydraulics on a jump bike

mechanical disks are what you want

nice set of Linear pull levers and Avid BB7 - you can't go wrong!
