Hi, i'm looking for a new (used) bike to replace my old knackered oen and a GT i-drive xcr 5 has come up at a really good price locally. It looks like the halfords special ones in blue they had for sale a while back. only problem is the guy selling cant remember what size the bike is.

Whats the correct way to measure the size on these frames?

Thre isn't really - they are S, M, L, XL. The seat tube measurement on it's own means very little.

thanks. Just noticed according to the bikeradar review, they only came in medium(18") and large (20"). Probably both a bit to big for me at 5'9!

Hmmm, if i can get the guy to confirm that it is the 18 and not the 20 then i might as well take it if it fits you guys fairly well!

    thanks

As above, 18 or 20 is not the point: it is a measurement of one tube which will not tell you how the bike fits.

At 5'9 I can honestly say you could well be ok with the S,M or L!!! Most likely the M, but there is only one way to tell...

Thanks everyone, went and picked the bike up today and it's about as perfect a fit as i could have hoped for! was a medium bike after all. So pleased with it although i wont be able to ride until tomo. Expecting a big improvment over my 1999 carrera with RST mozo pro's!!!

Chuffed to bits considering i got it for £350 which would have bought me virtually nothing new. Infact i think to buy the front and rear shocks alone would have cost me that.

only thing i need to do is to pump the rear shock up as it's pretty low. Is it worth buying a shock pump or do they tend to only need adjusting once in a blue moon?
