I am now addicted to halloumi cheese. it is not helping my fitness regime. hopefully it will burn out soo, but I love the cheese.

+1 it rocks grilled. I like a sprinkling of smoked paprika on it if I'm feeling cheffy.

gently fried with a little olive oil and them squeezed frsh lime, oooohhh, nice.

BBQ it then drizzle with an extragavant expensive extra virgin olive oil, squeeze of lemon, black pepper and serve on a greek salad (minus feta) yum!!

Not that fattening i dont think, isnt it made a bit like feta??

loved it, but one day i realised how much it tasted of nothing more than rubbery salt.

Its a Cypriot cheese originally made with sheeps milk, most noted for not melting when cooked. You can now buy it in a low fat version from Sainsburys

Halloumi is lovely, has to be fried first though, a bit grim if you eat it raw, like bacon :?

When I was in the RAF serving at 12 SU in Cyprus, (87-89) the rugby club (open 7 days per week)
used to do a roaring trade in bacon and halloumi sandwiches.

Married to a Greek Cypiot so has been part of my staple diet for the last 10 years, and I absolutely love it, but Feta is my favourite out of the 2 greek cheeses.
