As some of you know, I have had various problems with my leg over the last year, and have been told that I cannot risk further injury, so have been told to not take on anything too aggressive riding-wise. as a result, I have sold my Quake (pending payment)
http://content.mtbr.com/TRP_14_352_8crx.aspx
The above bike looks great, wishlist of parts and a nice and simple sus design, it's for XC (moderate, nothing too racy as I have a hardtail), I have ridden one briefly, but not enough to be an expert on it long-term. I know it lacks the prestige of certain boutique brands but I can't be arsed with that anymore.
Does anyone own one, or has anyone used one for more than 5 mins like me lol...
Seems to get good reviews everwhere
I have a budget of £1600

I have been having a problem getting my leg over for a while too.
I have always raved about the value of this bike. Superb spec, sus based on the Idrive - slightly weighty frame, but as a package, cannot fault it.0 -
I agree Paul, the soec is outtanding on this, the bike in total weighs about 26lb with pedals, which is great. Seems suited for my pussy riding.. lol
I really wish I had not sold the GT Force now, I was also looking at the sanction, I know it's vastly different to the above bike, but this is going to be used for trail riding like cannock etc (in fact whatever bike I get will be christened at the forum ride soon)
Any thoughts on the Sanction, I loved the force, and they are essentally the same frame, just burlier components on the sanction0 -
Sanction is slacker (though that may be just because of the long fork), has extra gusseting on the frame and a touch heavier.
Really is the opposite of the Cannaan!0 -

LOL I know it is... ha ha
My choice is:
The racier/lighter 100mm travel XC rig
or
The burlier trail/all mountain bike that can also pedal back up the hill
In an ideal world would be nice to have both lol, having loved the i-drive system, both are appealing in very different ways, the sanction I think is about 33lb, which isn't too bad.
I am trying to balance my bikes, as I shall be down to 2 (100mm travel hardtail and full susser) the Quake was wasted on me, as I am a gimp at anything gnarly!

Sounds like you need a Force then ;-)0

I know, I reaaaaaalllllly regret selling it mate, I really do!!!!
But the Sanction may be a nice soother.....0 -
You can still get the 3.0 for a good price:

If consider just a frame, you have alot of money to lay with and upgardes!0 -
Or get that Sanction and dumb it down a bit - lighter Revs at 150mm, new wheelset.0
-
I quite like the idea of Lyrics, I am aware however of problems with the 2-step internals.... I must admit, I do like it, cracking frame, love GT FS designs 8)
One of the best looking frames out there IMO
Plus I wont have any spare cash when I buy it, if I do get it, I shall run it as is til things wear out..... not that they look like they will, you know the ONLY thing that needed changing on the force as it looked flimsy was the Seatclamp lol - great spec!0 -
GTs claimed weights:
Force 6.6lbs
Sanction 6.7lbs
I think that has to be without shock!0
