Can anyone point me in the direction of a good form to complement my Santa Cruz Heckler. The bike is fitted with a RP23 rear shock and i have been advised i need a 140mm travel front fork? I use it mainly for general mountain biking really.

Would you not worry about matching rear forms to the front shock?0

I am not quite sure what you mean.0

Sorry i meant sticking with the same brand fork and shock.
Been looking at the 2010 fox forks but they are bloody expensive.0 -
He means front and rear shocks matching - fox to fox and so on.
Most manufacturers will tell you that their fork works best with their rear shock but I personally wouldn't worry about it too much. You see plenty of off the peg bikes with mismatched kit.Closet jockey wheel pimp whore.0 -
Ok so which Rockshox revelation 2010's should i go for as there are a number of different options.0

Do you have a budget in mind for the fork?
I rode a Heckler in Morzine with a RockShox Pike on and it suited the bike perfectly. The Revelation fork is lighter (air sprung) but should be just as abuse proof as a Pike.
There are lots of decent 140mm forks out there, and the Fox's don't have to be expensive - Fox 32 Vanilla R (coil sprung, good weight, £300 ish) http://www.winstanleysbikes.co.uk/product/23995/Fox_32_Vanilla_R_QR15_Forks_2009
Depends how adjustable you want and whether you prefer coil or air sprung.0 -
Its currently got a fox talas rlc fork on it. Think its a 2005/6 model thats been push tuned. Its only got 90-130mm of travel.
What would the revelation or pike equivalent be of it but with more travel?0 -
What front hub do you have?0
-
I've got a fox shock and rs revelations - excellent imo!
I was recommended to match air with air - don't know what anyone else thinks of this?? Weight has something to do with it too I suppose.http://i556.photobucket.com/albums/ss9/ ... lurLT2.jpg

IMO there is no reason to match types or brands.0

Rockshox Revelation 426 Maxle Air U-Turn 2009?
http://www.merlincycles.co.uk/marzocchi ... -turn.html
Or you can get a 2010 Revelation Team 120-150mm with maxle, but it ain't cheap.
But what ever you go, go 20mm.0 -

ok it will take a 160 fork, the Pike is a great fork but if you can afford get a Talas 36 you wont regret it!! if cost is an issue then a 2010 revelation will fit the job nicely!0 -

Revelation Team dual air or air u-turn?0
-
If you want to change travel easily, the Uturn. If not, the standard Dual Air.0
-
Thanks.
One final question, is it worth going for the maxle option over the standard QR one?0 -
For longer travel forks like this, I think so. Unless you are less than 10stone.
The 2010 Rev has been updated with a new chassis, and in palces is cheaper than the 2009!0 -
Thanks, will be placing a order for a 2010 revelation team air u-turn with a maxle.
Cheers for the help everyone.0 -
Shaping up to be a great fork, and I reckon an award winner.0
