I'm surposed to be doing this but I've been told that they can't provide me with anywhere secure to leave my bike. The best they can offer is for me to lock it up against some railings in an area where there will be plenty of organisers around :(

We're told to meet with the Army at the MOD Gardens on Victoria Embankment. Surely they could provide somewhere?

Did anyone marshall in London last year. If so and you rode in what did you do with your bike?

Fanx muchly in advance

...well Harry I am also marshalling this year and just assumed, wrongly, that I could leave my bike with the Army...not so then...looks like the tube for me,,,have you been told to be there at 7.30?

I think Woolieferkins of this parish marshalled last year. Try contacting him.
  • Me and a mate turned up last year, hardly anyone knew what was going on, they had no idea where to put me, decided east london but had noone to take me there, wanted me to get there myself from embankment.
Thought forget this, walked off went off to watch the race as I did I saw some marshalls sat behind a statue smoking a joint! Didn't exactly inspire me with confidence. My mate didn't bother either. His sister is one of the main event organisers for British Triathlon and he's volunteered for quite a few things for her and said this was a shower of $h!t and badly organised. Others might have a different view but speak as you find I say.

  • Not in London but marshalled at the finish in Gretna today and going to marshall at Blackpool tomorrow. Not a great finishing venue but still good to be involved. Organisation seemd to be ok but it didn't help that nearly half the volunteers didn't show up. Got a great view of the bunch finish though.

ChrisLS yes I've been told to be there for 7.30. Its a bit early to be honest!

I'm surprised that the Army can't find us somewhere safe to leave our bikes! I spoke to the organisers and they just suggested leaving it chained to a railing somewhere around the organisers area but I am not to keen on that so it will probably have to be the train (assuming they are running).

Alternatively I might just give it a miss and come up with my son if the afternoon to watch it.
