Overshoes & Cap (bought set last year , which didn't survive the winter - very thin)

Is this a nationwide event or specific to you’re local store..?
Forgive the silly Q. It’s just that I’ve never been to Aldi. But I could certainly do with some cheap gear
Why are you laughing..? I'm not laughing...

Nationwide. Every Aldi in the country opens its doors at 9 am on a Thursday to be besieged by pensioners and, in the case of Thursday, a flouress of hi-vizzers all after the week's bargains. It's quite a sight, and, in the case of the pensioners, can turn quite nasty, as anyone who's been run over by a Tartan shopping trolley will tell you. Especially if it's full of cat food.
The stuff on offer is usually pretty good for the price. Check your local stores opening time, and arrive early, cycling stuff goes fast.0 -
Will do... Thanks for the tip lolWhy are you laughing..? I'm not laughing...

I'd also suggest that it's worth trying on stuff before you buy, even if you have bought from ALDI before.
Bought some summer gloves back in April & just tried one glove for size.
Only later did I discover that the other was completely different size.
(not a disaster at ALDI prices)
Easy enough for a Jacket or Gloves - bit more of a challenge for a pair of shorts !
I'm going to stock up so I can have a spare set of gear at work for those days when you arrive totally soaked and won't get it dry before you go home.

There's some half decent looking stuff in there... Not quite Endura but at those prices you wont hear me scoffing thats for sure...
A lot of the cycling base layers work well on my motorbike as well :-)Why are you laughing..? I'm not laughing...

I bought 2 of the hand towels last year. They were very handy to pop one in my bag in case I got caught out. I have been waiting to buy a shower one.
The reflective bands are good value.
Waterpoof trousers aren't
I quite liked the cap, shame the overshoes are as good as the trousers (if you must, buy a size larger)
Gloves are good for autumn, but not really cold/wet days
The tops, I will probably wait and see if they sell them off cheap in 2 weeks.0 -
Are those shoes worth it? Are cheap SPD shoes better than the cheap trainers I cycle in now (I'll get some pedals, obviously)'12 CAAD 8 Tiagra0

Can't complain with the performance I've had from the two pairs I've bought apart from the laces wearing thin wear they rub on the laceholes, two quid from blscks etc will sort them out when they do break. These are the Lidl shoes, not Aldi. the Aldi ones being velcro straps will replace my £5 Lake shoes.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0 -

I can vouch for the SPD shoes, winter trousers and socks, still using mine a year later, great VFM, overshoes are poor, cap is ok.
Think I'll get another pair of shoes and winter gloves this time.'nulla tenaci invia est via'

bleedin hell, someone lock this thread quick..... otherwise I'll not get my next set of winter gear!!!
seriously, the stuff there is pretty good for the price, I got the winter tights and the softshell top and they did me throughout the winter
the socks are decent enough as well, although the track mitts I bought weren't so great but they were £3 so what the hell.... like the others said, get in quick cos the sensible sizes sell out straight away and they don't restock"I get paid to make other people suffer on my wheel, how good is that"
