Price Increases

Was looking at getting a new road bike, budget around £2000, and was very nearly going to get a 2009 Giant TCR Advanced 2. As the new models are due out I thought I would wait and see if the new on comes with Ultegra 6700 kit. It does, and the bike looks even better now the bright coloured stickers have been changed for 2010.

Only problem is the price increase . 2009 model with old Ultegra £1850 which I thought was fairly reasonable. 2010 model with Ultegra 6700 quoted on a few sites as £2700. That's one hell of an increase even taking into account the wheel upgrade for 2010.

It guess my best option is to pick up a 2009 version and remove the bright blue tcr stickers. In fact it would be cheaper for me to get the 2009 version and buy and fit the Ultegra 6700 myself. Would also be a good excuse to finally upgrade my winter bike from Tiagra.

I might also wait and see if Kuota are doing anything to update the Kebel for 2010 as I love the feel of this bike but being a bit of a tart I don't like the large carbon weave. I know, I know, I doesn't make any difference to the bike but to me the large carbon weave just looks horrid. I just want something that shouts 'ride me' whenever I open the garage door.

If only I could afford to stretch my finances for a KOM, but that's in another league.

Good luck finding a 2009 model...... Giant sold out in April
  • There were still one or two of the Rabobank TCR Advanced 3s around not long ago (if you can cope with the colour scheme)

BTW you learn to live with the big blue decals, I've got a 2009 TCR Advanced 2 and to begin with was a little doubtful about the colour scheme, but it's such a good bike that I've got over it. I agree about the mad price rise though. My nipper was in the market for this years TCR A2 till he found out they've gone up by nearly 50%. Guess that comes of not only the yen / £ but also the success of the bikes last year?

The new kuota range (2010) is out now. I didn't think the weave showed on the 2009 kebel models ? - I don't mind the weave, so I went for the kharma. I would have gone for the kebel - but didn't like any of the colour schemes .......where is the kuota red bike ?????

Doesn't look like a lot of change for Kuota 2010 - one new model 'corsa' I think - but that's high end.
