I haven't been cycle commuting in London for long (this is the 5th day I've done) but today I was issued with my first SMIDSY from a White Van Man.
On the A503 he turned left from the middle lane while I was alongside on the green cycleway thing beside him. No contact was made because my sixth sense told me he might do something silly, I opted for frantic braking, a cautious swerve and colourful profanity.
Then later in Camden a van approached a junction as I was passing, looked at me and then pulled out. I skidded to a halt and called him a rude name, he didn't say anything.
So, are they trying to kill us, or not?
PS - Commuting this week is Walthamstow to Camden

Just because we're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get us0 -

Yes, yes they are and if you keep thinking that way, they won't succeed

Of course they are not trying to kill us, they are just rude, selfish and impatient, and treat cyclists like the scum of the earth. But as long as we are vigilent, respectful, anticipate homicidal driving and have the law on our side, then we should (usuallay) be safe."Encyclopaedia is a fetish for very small bicycles"0 -
