  • Not sure what you mean by one click system - but changing the levers is likely to be expensive.

it's a hard life if you don't weaken.
  • she has an mtb where instead of multiple pushes on the gear lever a single click moves the chain

With campag, one click will move one gear.

With higher level campag one (big) click will change a few gears.

If you're referring to the front mech, then it will take a few clicks to shift between chainrings. Trust me, this is a good thing.

If she really hates it, then pre 2009 Centaur, Veloce, Mirage and Xenon shifters used the Escape system which can't do multiple shifts. They're horrible to use in comparison...
  • yeah it is the front mech that she was going on about more so than the rear, why is it a good thing ?

    excuse my ignorance

    Trimming.

As you change gear at the back, the angle of the chain changes. The front mech can only be so wide or it won't shift, so without the ability to move the mech, the chain will rub either on the highest or lowest gears on the cassette, or sometimes both. Having little intermediate clicks instead of just single large shifts allows you to move the mech a small amount so that it doesn't change gear, it just stops the rubbing.
  • that explains that then

    ta very much :D
