Hi, just got a new frame that came with a RS Monarch 2.1 rear shock.
I've also got a Fox Float RP2 rear shock on another frame which has been great.

Question?: Can I swap these over, as the Fox has a lockout? I've looked at the eye-to-eye measurement and they "seem" the same? Any reason I can't swap them? Ta!

Also, having trouble getting the brand new Monarch 2.1 up 180 psi, my weight in lbs.
Tried 2 shock pumps, both struggling. Got another one somewhere...

Any help/suggestions welcomed, thanks.
Don't wanna miss this high pressure weather front, scorchin' 'ere!

Eye-to-eye and stroke length are what matter.

Get them wrong and you impact the geometry and also risk bits of frame hitting each other.
You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.

you need to check the stroke as well. and then the size of the fitting eyes and their width or you may need a new fitting kit.

Why are you trying to get the air pressure to your weight?

set the pressure to give the sag you need.

Just realised problem: The small o-ring that is attached to the hinged inflator is knackered!
Air is escaping from the inflator as soon as it's being put in.
You can't see it without close scrutiny, as it's black on a black background and tiny.

Frame arrived without any air in the shock...figures.

So, it's a call the shop and return the shock to RS asap.

    Thanks for the advice.

the fox rp2 doesnt have lockout, it has propedal, its a platform damping system designed to reduce pedal bob

Yeah, just found that out thanks, from Dewi/Cycle Wales. He also say's there's a company that does kits in S.Wales - "Oh! Wos occurin?! " - to convert shocks to different frames,
as long as they are compatible.
Might be the ticket, as I don't fancy bobbing along up the Marin!

Just dropped it off to sort out the discs as he's running a Hydro brakes course Friday, so brakes will be totally serviced Gratis. Result!
