Advice on rear shock?

I've had a giant reign for about a year now and i'm starting to ride alittle bit more aggressively. At the front i got rockshox pike and rear the manitou swinger 3 way.
At the moment I like to ride aggressive xc. No freeride stuff. Because this is my first full suss bike i would like to know if you guys think i would benefit from upgrading the rear shock? I think the pike's are fine, but think that the rear could be better.
I'm looking at the fox dhx 5 air or coil. What's the difference? Is it worth it for me? I'd rather get something really good now and have to save upgrading later.
Cheers

Well, can you identify why your shock is not performing?0

why not just get your current one serviced?"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Sorry to be vague but that's more or less what i'm wondering. Since i've never tried anything better i'd like to know if its worth while changing.0 -
I've been using a Manitou Swinger for the past couple of years on my Morewood and I have to say that it's been excellent IMO. It's a doddle to set up, has been very reliable and is adaptable to a multitude of different situations and riding styles.
I'm not being cheeky, but are you sure you have it set up correctly?0 -

No not cheeky at all, thanks for that.
Its just that its my first rear shock and i just wanted other people's opinions on whether or not a better shock is worthwhile getting. Since its my only shock experience i don't know if there's better out there.
eg. my first bike was a bmx and i thought that was fine until i experienced a bike with gears0 -
Oh there's definitely better out there, but, as with most things on bikes, it's a case of diminishing returns.
I'd consider giving TFT a call for some set-up advice before you bin it.0
